D.I.Y. 'SPLASH' Puppet Mascot

Summer Reading 2010
How To Make A Splash In A Hurry

It's easy to open the tap to a flood of creativity using the stuff that is churning around in your craft closets and bins – all you need is an appropriate mascot to direct the flow.

Just follow the pattern and with a little sewing, some scraps of felt, a couple of wiggly eyes you will have created your summer reader greeter "Splash."

Splash will be on hand to preside over (and tie together) all sorts of new or recycled programs. And you can always end with a splash on each child's head – a simple tap as they leave the day's event.

Download the 'Big Hand' pattern, (paw.pdf – 45KB) add eyes, green splashy eye-lashes, and a white mouth as shown in the photo, and you are ready to "SPLASH." (The eyes are 25 mm – I got mine from Joann's) You can get a pattern for the eyelashes and cheek drops along with a printable photo of Splash from eyedrop.pdf (421KB)

Please share your photos of your 'Splash' puppets at – we will put up a picture gallery.
